    Product Overview

That isn't a creek. That's a river. Wide enough to drown a cavalry charge. Wide enough that the far bank is someone else's problem until the engineers show up.

This is the large-format FeltPro™ Cut & Play River — a 6" water channel that meanders naturally inside each section, flanked by rocky shores and grassy banks. No ruler-straight edges. No symmetrical shoreline. Water that looks like it has somewhere to be. Delivered on a 60" × 80" sheet. Part of the FeltPro™ system, not a standalone mat.

    What you get:

    • 8 straight river sections, roughly 27" × 6" (blue graphics) each, with naturally winding channels
    • 2 U-bend curves for wide turns, oxbow loops, or routing the river back across the table
    • 3 circular marsh/flooded pieces — standalone water features for marshland, watering holes, village ponds, or that thing in the swamp your scouts didn't come back from
    • Rocky gravel and green grass banks — both sides, varying naturally across every piece, trim them off or make them ragged - your choice
    • Roughly 260"+ of total river — over 21 feet of waterway, plus the ponds
    • Delivered on a 50" × 60" FeltPro™ sheet

The meander is the point. Every straight section curves the water differently. Line two up and the river wanders. Flip one and the curve reverses. Swap the order and the whole table changes. Eight straights, two bends, and three ponds — hundreds of possible layouts without cutting a single thing.

But you can cut. Cut & Play means exactly that. Scissors. Trim a section shorter to fit a tight gap. Cut along the waterline to separate the banks — now one side is a steep rocky bluff you place independently from the gentle grassy shore on the other. Narrow the channel into a ford. Widen it into a lazy bend. Trim a pond into a half-moon bog. Carve a tributary from a leftover strip. Notch a stream mouth where a creek feeds the main river. These are felt. They're meant to be cut. Cut with confidence.

The ponds go anywhere. Drop one in a village as a small pond. Cluster two together for marshland. Place one at the head of a small river section as a spring-fed source. Trim one into an irregular shape for a natural watering hole. They're standalone pieces — they work with the river or completely on their own.

Then drape them. That's the third dimension nobody else gives you. Lay a 27" river section across a valley and it follows the low ground. Drape it over a ridge and it sits in the saddle. The banks rise where the terrain rises. The ponds settle into hollows. A river that actually flows downhill instead of hovering on a flat rubber sheet.

    Why FeltPro™:

    • Lightweight. Roll it, fold it, toss it in a bag.
    • Real topography. Cut & Play pieces drape over your terrain and hold shape — the river follows the ground, not the other way around.
    • A system, not a mat. Pair with FeltPro™ Dirt Roads and Cobblestone Roads for a complete table — the road runs to the river, the ford crosses it, the trail picks up on the far side.
    • Costs less than neoprene. You shouldn't have to pay rubber-yoga-mat money for water.

    Built for:

    • Napoleonics — contested river crossings, Danube-scale waterways, pontoon bridge approaches
    • ACW — major river operations, bluff-to-bluff crossings, riverine gunboat terrain
    • Dark Ages & Medieval — Viking river raids, border rivers, ford battles
    • WW2 — Rhine crossings, bridgehead assaults, river recon, Operation Market Garden
    • Fantasy — enchanted rivers, lake encounters, the crossing the wizard said was safe
    • Any period — big rivers decide campaigns, not just battles

Works for Black Powder, Sharp Practice, General d'Armée, Bolt Action, Chain of Command, SAGA, Hail Caesar, Flames of War, Frostgrave — anywhere a wide river divides the field and the objective is on the other side.

The ford is narrow. The current is strong. The far bank is held. Now what.
