Grass torn open to wet brown earth in wide, ragged patches — the print of boots, hooves, and tracks working the same ground over and over until the turf lost. Dark mud runs through olive and khaki in irregular sweeps, with green surviving only where nothing has crossed it yet.

This is the mat for armies that arrive second. It puts damage on the table before a single model is placed, and it does the thing no clean field can: it makes your board look like a campaign rather than a demo.

• High-contrast mud and grass — deep wet browns against olive and straw, with enough tonal range that mud-, rust-, and earth-based models read as part of the ground rather than sitting on top of it
• No printed  roads, or landmarks, so it stays usable from 6mm and 10mm mass battle through 15mm, 28mm, and 32mm heroic scale
• Drapes over what's underneath. Foam, books, or hills beneath the mat give you rutted rises and sunken ground instead of hills sitting on a flat board. Neoprene physically cannot do this
• Matte, non-reflective finish. No glare under overhead lights, and it photographs cleanly for battle reports
